International Event

Before I continue my journal of the Trip to Down Under (I think I still have at least 2 more stories to share), let me just tell you what happened last week – which resulted in me having no time at all to update my blog.

Our country was elected as the host for an international event.

So the last week prior to the event, everyone was really really busy preparing for it.

I was really really busy snapping pictures of them being really really busy.

The bosses were very involved in the preparation work as well.

We held a lot of internal brain storming sessions. Well I had to distract myself, my brain to be exact, to be really stormed.

So came the day before the event.

Boss arranged for us to check into one of the 5-star hotel in town. I think it costs RM500 per night. We stayed 3 nights.

Then Oleen couldn’t wait to hop onto the bed and I couldn’t resist to snap a picture of her.

Apparently, our real venue rehearsal could only be carried out at night.

That I accepted because the ball room was occupied during the whole day.

But I was really pissed off when I was asked to fold name cards late at night when I could be doing that in the afternoon when I was really really free in the beautiful hotel room!!

Then we had a dry run of the ceremony where one of us would be presenting a token of appreciation to the Minister of Finance, No. 2.

That’s Lynna with that extremely happy smile while acting as the VIP.

Then came the day of the actual event.

We actually woke up at 5 am with only fucking 3 hours of sleep the night before,

thanks to someone’s extremely “good” organising skills which resulted in late finishing the previous night!

At least JM and I still got to have our complimentary breakie at the tea house,

while Iz needed a total of 2 hours to do her hair and her make up.

She skipped the breakie which was valued at RM60 per pax.

The ladies were setting up the registration counter.

When Iz first saw the tables, she asked Kelvin (the hotel sales manager)

whether they are going to put some cloth over the table.

Then Kelvin said: Do you know that these are marble tables?

So that’s Iz after 2 hours of preparation.

Let’s take a look how she looked like before sacrificing her sleep and breakie.

Like that. Not bad huh. For the make over.

And that’s the grand ballroom. We had 100 guests from 23 countries.

Then we also had Interpreter’s booth set up for the Japanese and Chinese delegates.

After long anticipation, here comes the Minister of Finance II. I was like a paparazzi.

It was pretty excited for that moment. And I really didn’t like that lady smiling into the lens.

Thereafter, we had our signing ceremony where all countries agreed to be part of this inaugural group.

Next it was group photo sessions.

The whole picture would be a combination of what I showed you here.

I was not the official photographer but I had no idea why they were looking at my camera.

Then the actual programme of the event started – the discussion of very interesting technical subjects.

Iz was the first to go up the stage …. to upload the slides for the delegates. =p

Half way through the day I was really really exhausted and I missed the Internet.

So I took Iz’s mobile and tweet. I must at least tweet once or twice in a day to feel better.

The first day ended with the conclusion of the technical topic.

I bet you won’t be interested to learn. And I am not interested to blog about it either.

Second day was more relaxing for us.

So we decided to dress up pretty – in traditional Baju Kebaya, except for Ah Lai.

Second day was just more and more discussion on technical projects =_=”

Thank God I was allowed to walk around being the photographer.

Even my team mates couldn’t help but to gossip except for our manager,

who was probably the only one listening and writing the whole time.

Lastly, what’s an event without some cam whoring right?

Firstly, I took a picture of our official photographer after he took an ugly picture of me. Revenge!

Then this. A picture with a cute guy is inevitable.

So that’s basically it. Our first ever international event.
